Catherine Slater is a freelance artist working mainly with her own handmade felt. She enjoys combining the craft of turning fibres into fabric with the art of translating the images and ideas in her head into a visual form that can be shared with an audience.

She studied Sculpture for three years and History of Art for one year as part of an Honours degree in Education and Art. In 1997 she completed the four year City and Guilds course in Creative Studies and Embroidery Skills. Since then she has been a part-time tutor in feltmaking and also runs freelance workshops.
